CAITLIN KITTREDGE was warped from an early age by Monty Python, pulp novels and H.P. Lovecraft. Now she writes dark fantasy in the form of the Nocturne City series. Go figure. She is the proud owner of an English degree, 3,000 comic books and a sick sense of humor. She lives with cats and wears a lot of black, thus fulfilling two writer cliches at once.
The evil doppelganger that lives in my head tells me so.
Music. I played classical violin, piano, jazz saxophone and guitar and various points, so of course I wanted to be a rock star when I grew up. All band geeks do.
Neil Gaiman, Raymond Chandler, H.P. Lovecraft and the Sex Pistols. Really, I'm just in love with the idea of the unseen existing side by side with the real, and I've tried to use my writing to express my belief that the fantastical /does/ exist, if you know where to find it.
I LOVED urban legends and ghost stories as a kid, and I read everything I could get my hands on. (Further evidence of warping, right there.) As a result, I became incredibly hard to scare--I was always the kid who would walk other kids to the bathroom at summer camp, because I knew that the hook man wasn't going to get us, and that if he was, I could probably run faster than the other kid. I enjoyed /telling/ the Hook Man story to my friends, mostly because I got to recite "and there...on the handle...was a HOOK" at the end and make them scream. I think my favorite was the one where the serial killer breaks into this girl's house and is under the bed, and the girl think it's her dog, because he keeps licking her hand, and then when the police come and gun him down the detective says "Humans can lick, too." I freaked the /crap/ out of my friends with that one. It was awesome.
I don't remeber the rest. I think he turned out to be the gym teacher.
All of the juicy stuff is already on my blog.
Book-wise? Jim Butcher and Kim Harrison. Dating-wise? I'm too much of a diva to ever compare myself to a celebrity. I'm FABULOUS.
There are no bodies in my crawlspace. Not a one.
