Contest Reminder and a Thank You

posted by Mark at 1:39 PM

First of all, we won't be choosing our winners (yep! With an "s") until Monday, so tell your friends about the League and jump on the free shit bandwagon. Just make sure that the comment is under the contest post and not this one, cuz I'm too lazy to go huntin'.

I have to thank Jaye for that post she did yesterday. Got me putting together a playlist, where I remembered a song that would be perfect for Dark Rites. But more than that, gave me an idea for a secondary character that I'm super psyched about. Here's the video for Lagartija Nick...

...and nope, the character I'm thinking of is not the devil, or Nick, or whatever you want to call him. Any guesses? Stace, you're excluded, since you know.

Happy Mudda's Day, tomorrow. Don't forget about Jackie's Mother's Day post!

Cool! Crack the whip huh? Is the character a lion tamer?

Nope. His name is actually in the song lyric, though it's really difficult to hear.

I'll never tell.

I have to ask a question. Maybe one of you guys can blog on this sometime. I noticed the new trend towards publishing the playlists while writing a novel. Stephanie Meyer does it on her website, I think I just saw it in a previous post (this is what I get for reading once every couple of days when I'm busy-I can't remember who posted their play list)

Anyways, so what prompted this new trend?

I have no clue.

I don't really post my playlists online. I do point out stuff I'm listening to. Videos and things. As for what I listen to while I'm writing, mostly I don't listen to anything.

Melissa Marr does it too. The new trend could be that Urban Fantasy writers are drawing inspiration from now so why not share. Also, it's all so available and easy now. Click a few boxes and you have a play list! Finding new music online is so simple... they are just taking advantage of the technology.

At least, I think so. :)

I've given it some more thought. I think it has to do with the generation of writers. We're comfortable with the technology that allows for playlists so it becomes part of our thought processes.

That makes sense. But as much as I love music and its a part of my life, when I'm working or doing something, its usually background noise. Unless I have my headphones in at work. Like TV when I'm on the comp. I couldn't tell you what I watched or heard. I tune it out for some reason.

But on the other hand, I notice the quiet.

Its amazing you guys can pinpoint what you're listening to when you're in the groove
