Help me figure this out!

posted by December/Stacia at 7:09 AM

Okay, I don't really feel like blogging about anything serious or thought-provoking today. In part because I have some research to do on crematory ovens (if anyone knows anything about them, let me know.) But mostly? Because today is my anniversary. I've been married for eight years today, which is pretty cool, I think, and puts me in a rather festive mood.

And speaking of the hubs, he is the impetus for today's post. Last night he sent me this link to the latest Lying in the Gutters column at Comic Book Resources. I've copied the relevent image below.

It's the cover for Marvel's new "Three Musketeers", from their Marvel Illustrated line. (You can click on the image to make it bigger, or follow the link to the column and click on the image there to get a full-size version.)

Columnist Rich Johnston suggests the image is in actuality Led Zeppelin. I disagree. The dark haired-guy on the right, with the bandolier, is definitely Jimmy Page. But that's clearly Lemmy behind him, and the one on the left, with the rounded hat, looks like George Harrison to me.

But who's the guy in the front??!

He looks familiar, yes he does; but I cannot for the life of me place him. Anybody know?

And also, I just squinted at the guy in the front and I swear he snarled at me when I did.

Help me out! Identify the guy! Disagree with any of my IDs? Tell me! (But seriously, that's Lemmy, y'all.)

(OH, and. According to the Juno Books blog, Personal Demons should be in stores any day. Thanks so much everyone for your patience.)

Dude, that's totally Lemmy. I think the guy on the left looks a bit like Alan Cumming. The guy in front, hmmm... I'm drawing a blank.

Also, re: crematory ovens, I've done a little research on funeral stuff for books so I'll send you some links.

I don't recognize any of them... of course, I didn't listen to any of the artists you listed. *shrug* *mumbles something about a generational gap...*

As to cremtory ovens? Well, you don't JUST get your own relatives ashes back. They are hot. And I would never want to go near one... until I'm dead. I want to be creamated. Screw wasting earth and space on a corpse. Hubby doesn't agree. We'll see... hopefully we have decades before we have to worry about this.

Lol, Jaye, the hubs sent this out around his work, and while there have been a few dissenting opinions about Jimmy or George--and a few more in other places online, which he didn't send me links to--not a one has denied that that is obviously Lemmy. Because it so totally is.

Oh, Melissa. You never listened to Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, or Motorhead? Really?

Happy Anniversary!

Why that's Eric Stolz from the movie Mask.

It' nice to see that he's staying active.

Oh and I did do some research on crematoriums for the funeral home scene in happy hour. Nothing special about the ovens, but they do use these white fiberboard boxes, not coffins.

Nope. Never really listened to any of them... my family was more Billy Joel, Queen, The Cars, Moody Blues, etc. But I've actually gotten into the Beatles recently since I watched Across the Universe. Pretty awesome movie!

Mark---- ew..ew..ew... do they REUSE the coffins or something??!?!?!

April 8, 2008 12:54 PM

He looks a little like Mandy Patkins from Princess Bride

Happy anniversary!!

I think it's one of the guys from Spinal Tap.

Happy Anniversary!

Sorry, I'm lost on the muskateers identities too :)

Is bringing up ways to dispose of a body planned to make sure your husband comes through with a great gift?

April 8, 2008 3:31 PM

The guy in front: James Hetfield from Metallica.

April 8, 2008 5:17 PM

Thanks everyone! Lol no, I'm not expecting any gifts, as we're broke as broke can be (and actually, now he's gone to bed, so I can officially say No Gifts were given. That's okay though.) I'm writing a scene in a creamtorium, which hopefully is pretty awesome scary.

Hmmm...you know, Travis, I'm not entirely sure I agree...but I don't disagree either. Hmmm.

April 8, 2008 6:50 PM

Guy in front is TOTALLY Joey DeMaio from Manowar.

April 9, 2008 1:25 AM

I'll totally disagree with Travis for you DQ/SK.

I know me my Hetfield and that's not it.

April 9, 2008 10:12 AM

I was totally thinking Inigo Montoya too!

April 9, 2008 10:28 AM

Lol on the guy from Manowar. One of these things is not like the others...

April 9, 2008 11:04 AM

DOH! The George Harrison guy COULD be Frank Zappa!

April 9, 2008 11:06 AM

Matt Damon. I swear he's Matt Damon...

The only thing I know about crematory ovens is that there was a Law & Order:CI ep about them that totally creeped me out.
