Book Club: A Few Words

posted by Mark at 1:11 PM

Alright...let's talk book club.

Is five days too long? Cuz I'm thinking three.
Is once a month too often?
What do we want to read next? I'm thinking Personal Demons; I've got tons of stuff to ask about that one.

But, I kind of need a list. Something to put together for June. Does June work for the next club that's not a League member?

By dictatorial fiat, PD it is.

I don't have an issue with five days, but then again, I think we all know I spend waaaaay too much time online.

Personal Demons would be an excellent choice.

And I like the five days because if I miss a day for some dumb reason I can read up and still have time to get involved.

I bought Personal Demons Monday and like 13 more books at RT... almost all of which are UF. I'll post a list as soon as I get home. :)

A month is not to often and 5 days is not an issue. I can give you a list.
Blood Angel Justine Musk
Black Magic Woman Justin Gustainis
The Becoming by Jeanne Stein
Personal Demons is also good.

Promised List:

Personal Demons -Stacia Kane
Rogue -Rachel Vincent
Night Life -Caitlin Kittredge
Halfway to the Grave -Jeaniene Frost
Minion -LA Banks
Dead Witch Walking -Kim Harrison
Storm Front -Jim Buthcer
Unshapely Things -Mark DelFranco (did we do that one while I was on med leave?)

Ok, those are all the UF I currently own and haven't read. 8 out of almost 90. Nice.

Seeing as I'm new to this whole thing. Once a month is good. PD is on my wishlist, I'm not sure I can swing it after RT...but if I can find it locally, I may be able to sneak it in. I'd prefer to read that over "The Glass castle" or whatever it is over at hidden_noses.

What's the 5 vs 3 days?

We usually do 5 days of topics and we still could but I'd suggested dropping down to 3.

Far be it from me to attempt to influence the choice of book to be discussed, but if you were to choose BLACK MAGIC WOMAN sometime, the author (um, me) would be pleased to take part in the discussion.

I actually think 3 days is better for momentum, and once a month is good.

I like five days because I often get caught up in different things and can come back at the end of the week and catch whatever I missed.

I definately would be up for talking about:
Black Magic Woman - Justin Gustainis
Personal Demon - K. Armstrong
Halfway to the Grave -Jeaniene Frost
Dead Witch Walking -Kim Harrison
I have Rogue -Rachel Vincent but haven't read it yet.
