And the Nominees Are...

posted by Mark at 10:59 AM

Tomorrow marks day one of the first League Book Club. We'll be chatting up C.E. Murphy's gargoyled urban fantasy HEART OF STONE. Come back each day this week for a new book related topic plus our regular blog posts. It's gonna be a busy one.

We only had 6 people make nominations but they were awesome (remember, we only do series debuts, that way no one is left out). So...on that note, let's pick us the next victim.

Already Dead
Charlie Huston
Vampires and zombies
all up in the NYC.

Beg for Mercy
Toni Andrews
The power of suggestion x 10.
Heroes meets paranormal romance!

Blood Engines
T.A. Pratt
Hayay!
Marla's got the magixes!

Dancing with Werewolves
Carole Nelson Douglas
Paranormal PIs,
Werewolves and Vegas, baby!

The Devil Inside
Jenna Black
An exorcist with a problem.
Why do the demons have to
be so damn sexy?

The Nymphos of Rocky Flats
Mario Acevedo
What's with all the nymphomaniacs?
Vamp PI finds out.

Unshapely Things
Mark Del Franco
A modern druid investigates
the murders of fairy hustlers!

Ugh, I've been so far behind on the readage. I've wanted to read HEART OF STONE for weeks now. The only one I've read of the nominations is The Devil Inside.

I own (somewhere in the boxes) and enjoyed Unshapely Things and Blood Engines, so in the interest of being really cheap, I'd recommend either for the Feb book.

My life has been ruled by one rule and one rule alone: When in doubt, always bet on the nympho.

Okay, I'm totally lying, but I do really want to read that book.

Blood engines!

Man, I want to read NYMPHOS, but doubt I'd get to it (ah, the joys of writing) so therefore vote for BLOOD ENGINES, which I've already read and can therefore potentially discuss.

But that's kind of lame, really. o.o

I'll put my vote in for Blood Engines.

I vote for Del Franco's Unshapely Things.

Ooh! Unshapely Things, please! It's been a few months since I read it, but discussion will be a great refresher, since the next installment of this series, Unquiet Dreams, is coming out this week.

My vote's for Nymphos.

January 28, 2008 12:56 AM

Top pick: Unshapely Things, because I've been meaning to read it for ages.

Second pick: Blood Engines, because isn't that one of the ones everyone's supposed to have read (and I'm behind on the trend)?

Hey, they're all high on my wish list ;) But sadly, some of them are wait, wait, wait on Amazon in the UK ;( and the only one I've got so far and read is Already Dead, by Charlie Hutson, so I'm voting with that one!

I've read all of the books except Toni Andrews book..So hard to choose!! I think my first choice will have to be already dead...vampire noir, it was great!
If not this one, eith Unshapely Things or Blood Engines, both were great!

Umm...bad thing about doing the nominations is picking them. Gonna go with...hmmmm...

Hmm, I vote for either the Nymphos of Rocky Flats or Unshapely Things. Cause I've been eying both.

I'm voting for Unshapely Things. :) Just bought it last week and almost finished reading it, so it's fresh on my brain.
